Europe’s leading German chain of personal and home care products invests in a tricolor logistics center
Beauty and make-up, organic food and supplements, baby, household and pet products: opens in Italy the online shop of dm, Europe’s largest drugstore chain, which offers an assortment of more than 14,000 products from commercial brands and its own brands (27 of those produced in-house including Balea, alverde, Mivolis and dmBio) with the aim of offering a wide range at extremely competitive prices.
Click on dm-drogeriemarkt.it to place orders from the comfort of home, with delivery throughout Italy or in store. A sustainable alternative, since it avoids packaging and shipping, is express pickup: this mode allows you to purchase products available at the store from the website directly, where the order will be prepared and ready for pickup as early as three hours later.
“Investing in such an important project is a sign of how much dm believes in the Italian market,” says Hubert Krabichler, CEO of dm Italia. “A due thank you goes to all dm employees, to our partners who have supported us so far and continue to choose dm, and to our customers, for the passion with which they follow and support us every day.”
The digital platform offers inspiring articles and tips, advice, and much more useful information for brand lovers. More than 8,000 products are currently available on the site in 5 categories: beauty, health and nutrition, baby, pet care, and home care.
“The opening of dm‘s online shop is a natural progression of our efforts to better meet the needs and expectations of customers, who will be able to purchase our products throughout Italy, including the islands. We are pleased to be able to offer them an easy and affordable shopping experience,” says Benjamin Schneider, marketing director of dm Italy.
The group, with sales (as of Sept. 30, 2021) of 12.2 billion euros, is now present in 14 European countries. In Italy there are currently 72 stores (in Lombardia, Piedmont, Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Emilia Romagna, Toscana, and Marche) with more than 600 employees. In 2022 the company invested in a central Italian warehouse, in cooperation with its logistics partner DSV, to make the logistics organization connected to the online store and stores more efficient.
“We are constantly working to improve the company’s services and products, and accelerating digitization is one of our priorities,” Schneider adds. “The dm online store model reconnects the shopping experience in physical stores in a virtual way, pointing to relevant information about the company, products, services, and items. We want a user-friendly interface and the ability to order as easily as possible with an attractive design.”
The group has always placed great emphasis on environmental sustainability, particularly through the continuous search for natural and organic ingredients, the use of recycled raw materials and packaging, and the choice of climate-friendly products.
Less plastic, more nature – dm Italia has introduced the new Planet Pure certified organic detergents on tap in three of its Italian stores, a further step toward sustainability and environmental protection, which has always been a cornerstone of the company’s philosophy. Planet Pure bio-detergents on tap are characterized by several advantages: a refillable bottle made of bio-plastic derived from sugar cane, which makes it possible to significantly decrease plastic consumption; mixtures composed of 100 percent vegetable raw materials that are completely biodegradable in less than 30 days; formulations free of sulfates, palm oil and microplastics, totally vegan, not tested on animals and suitable for sensitive skin.
dm in Italy’s Best Employers 2023 ranking – Just five years after opening its first store in Italy, dm Italia re-enters, for the second year in a row, the Italy’s Best Employers ranking, the result of independent research published in Corriere della Sera and edited by the international company Statista, which analyzes market data. Between April and May 2022, more than 3,500 companies with at least 250 employees employed in Italy were analyzed, and dm, along with some of the largest and longest-established companies in the area, was among the 400 that received the certificate of best company to work in.
dm in Global ranking “Powers of Retailing 2022: Resilience Despite Challenges” – According to global consulting firm Deloitte’s report on global retail players, now in its 25th edition, the dm Group ranks 96th on the Top 250 list based on retail revenue growth for fiscal year 2020, ranking on top compared to Adidas, Zalando and many others.

dm drogerie markt, founded in Germany in 1973, with a turnover (as of September 30, 2021) of 12.2 billion euros and present at the moment in 14 countries is now Europe’s largest retail chain for personal and home care products. After entering the Italian market in November 2017, dm’s ambitious plan of openings in Italy continues, to date 72 stores in the territory.
The brand’s philosophy is to offer a specialized range at an extremely low and competitive price, thanks in part to its private brands, which number as many as 27 including Balea, alverde, Mivolis, and dmBio. With the Pro Climate line, which has zero environmental impact, the company wins the DNP (German Sustainability Award Design) in December 2021.
